Attorney General Partially Reverses Netiv Ha’avot Decision

By Andrew Friedman/TPS • 28 November, 2017

Jerusalem, 28 November, 2017 (TPS) -- Residents of the Netiv Ha’avot neighborhood of Elazar praised Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit Tuesday for reversing part of a high court decision to demolish 17 homes in the unapproved outpost adjacent to the community in Gush Etzion, but repeated their call for Israel’s political echelon to find a solution to save the neighborhood before the court-ordered deadline of March 8.

“(The decision) to save six of our homes and to prevent part of the destruction of our community is praiseworthy,” the residents said in a statement. “But it is a drop in the sea. The government’s job is to push forward with our appeals and to grant approval to the entire neighborhood of Netiv Ha’avot.”

“The government of Israel and the man who heads it, Binyamin Netanyahu, must push forward with deliberations on our appeals and put an end to the ‘declaration of war’ against Netiv Ha’avot. We call on everybody to come to the first building that is expected to be demolished in the coming days and to barricade themselves inside with us in order to prevent this destruction,” the residents said.
