Azerbaijan Begins Supplying Gas to Germany, Austria

Jerusalem, 18 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has begun the next important stage in Azerbaijan’s gas exports by selling significant volumes of gas transported through TAP, the European segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, to the markets of Southern and Central Europe.

SOCAR told AZERTAC that starting from January 2026, Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to buyers from Austria and Germany, among other countries.

Gas supplies to Austria and Germany via Italy further expand the geographical reach of Azerbaijani gas in Europe. Thus, the number of countries purchasing Azerbaijani gas has reached 16.

In accordance with the gas strategy formulated under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SOCAR is continuously expanding its gas marketing activities in the European and Middle East regions, increasing its portfolio of cooperation with buyers from various countries, and further strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a reliable energy supplier.
