Jerusalem, 20 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Spring has arrived in Azerbaijan.

The Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University (BSU) told AZERTAC that spring entered Azerbaijan at 1:01 p.m. on March 20.

At this time, day and night are equal, the sun moves along the ecliptic (the annual apparent path of the Sun), crossing the equator and moving from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere. Thus, from that moment, astronomical spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere, and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. The length of the spring season will be 92 days, 17 hours, 40 minutes, and 46 seconds.

The day is celebrated as Nowruz, the Persian New Year, by millions of people around the world, especially in Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and parts of the Balkans.
