Azerbaijan Claims 16 Medals at World Junior and Youth Kickboxing Championships

Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The WAKO World Junior and Youth Championships were held in Jesolo, Italy.

AZERTAC reports that the Azerbaijani national team finished the championship with a total of 16 medals, including 10 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.

The team ranked 11th in total medals and 3rd in the number of medals won in ring competitions.

Among the youth, Ali Mayilzade (57 kilograms, “Low Kick”), Adil Asadov (54 kilograms, “K1”) and Gulgaz Ibrahimli (48 kilograms, “Low Kick”) became world champions.

Among the juniors, Huseyn Mahmudzade (42 kilograms, “Low Kick”), Seymur Guliyev (45 kilograms, “Low Kick”), Huseyn Amirli (45 kilograms, “K1”), Nizami Aliyev (48 kilograms, “Full Contact”), Aykhan Allahyarli (54 kilograms, “K1”), Jamil Mammadov (42 kilograms, “K1”) and Eldar Rzayev (75 kilograms, “Low Kick”) won gold medals.

Ring judges Aydin Koch Agabeyov and Anar Mammadov renewed their international A-level referee status. Anar Mammadov was also awarded the “Best Ring Judge” award of the championship.

Athletes from a total of 79 countries competed in the competition.
