Azerbaijan Honors Fallen Soldiers on Memorial Day

Jerusalem, 27 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Victory Park in Baku on September 27 to mark Memorial Day.

AZERTAC reports that the head of state laid a wreath in front of the Victory Monument and paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs.

First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva paid tribute to the martyrs.

The leadership of the Ministry of Defense and other military personnel visited the Military Memorial Cemetery and the Alley of Martyrs, laying wreaths in front of the graves.

Wreaths were laid in front of the graves of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and the memory of our martyrs was commemorated. The ministry officials and senior military figures placed flowers in front of the Victory Monument.

Aliyev, Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, and Defense Minister Col. Gen. Zakir Hasanov, met with the families of the fallen soldiers.

Azerbaijanis paid tribute at ceremonies across the country.
