Azerbaijan Plants 22,000 Trees to Mark ‘Windy Wednesday’
Jerusalem, 11 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – On Windy Wednesday, the third Wednesday of the Novruz holiday, 22,740 seedlings of various types of trees were planted on forest fund lands across Azerbaijan, and nearly 200 kilograms of seeds were sown, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
It was reported that today, reforestation activities were held with the participation of employees of the Regional Forestry Centers in open and sparse areas of the forest fund lands of Shabran, Khachmaz, Goygol, Masalli, Yevlakh, Sabirabad, Agjabedi, Tovuz, Gakh, Sheki, Zagatala, Oguz regions, and various tree seedlings were planted in accordance with the soil and climatic conditions of each region.
Windy Wednesday is associated with the air and wind that awakens nature. Turkic and Persian cultures, including Azerbaijan, mark the day during the time leading up to Nowruz, the Persian New Year. Nowruz falls on March 20.
