Azerbaijan Reports Progress in Mine Removal, Worker Injured in Accident

Jerusalem, 17 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has announced information on the mine clearance operations carried out in November by organizations involved in mine clearance activities in the liberated territories.

ANAMA told AZERTAC that during the past six months, 265 anti-personnel mines, 127 anti-tank mines and 3,207 unexploded ordnance were detected and neutralized during mine clearance operations in Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Khojavend, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan.

Also, 2,894.7 hectares of land were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Meanwhile, an ANAMA worker, Samir Imamverdiyev, was injured by anti-personnel mine on Monday in the course of his official duties in the Bala Jafarli village of the Gazakh region, located on the border with Armenia.

Imamverdiyev was evacuated to the Gazakh District Central Hospital, where his right leg was amputated at the ankle. His condition is satisfactory and his life is not in danger.
