Azerbaijan Showcases Expanding Space Capabilities at Southeast Asian Forum

Jerusalem, 20 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijan’s space agency, Azercosmos, presented the country’s expanding space capabilities and economic vision at the Southeast Asian Space Leaders’ Forum, in the Philippines on Thursday.

Azercosmos told AZERTAC that the speech dedicated to the topic of “Space Economy” provided extensive information about the achievements of Azerbaijan in recent years in building a modern space ecosystem.

During the speech, the “Azerspace-1” and “Azerspace-2” telecommunications satellites, “Azconnexus” satellite internet solutions, as well as opportunities related to remote observation of the Earth’s surface, were discussed, contributing to the development of the digital economy in the region.

The value of Azercosmos’ Geographic Information Systems and Earth Observation capabilities for the space economy was highlighted. It was noted that solutions such as FarmerApp, Platerra, the National GIS platform, and climate analytics are expanding the application of satellite data in agriculture, ecology, urban planning, and other fields.

During the presentation, information was also provided about the development of human capital, one of the strategic goals of Azercosmos, the programs of the Space Academy established for this purpose, and the contributions of these initiatives to increasing the knowledge and skills of young people in space technologies.

A bilateral meeting was held between Azercosmos and the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) within the framework of the forum. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of satellite communications, Earth observation applications, human capital development, and joint space initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as exchanged views on the possibilities of organizing mutual technical missions in the future.
