Azerbaijan to Launch Bird Flu Monitoring Campaign
Jerusalem, 17 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Epidemiological monitoring against bird flu will be conducted in Azerbaijan from April 7-April 11. The monitoring will be carried out jointly with employees and specialists of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency and relevant institutions.
According to the Agency’s Information Support and Innovative Solutions Department, during the monitoring, in addition to covering hunting farms and wetlands, coastal zones and other areas of national parks identified on a risk basis, a general inspection of wild birds will be conducted, and wild birds will be hunted in order to detect the pathogen.
Diagnostic samples will also be taken from poultry farms, including family farms in various regions (cities). A general inspection of enterprises, farms, water bodies and parks across the country will also be conducted. Targeted awareness-raising and propaganda measures will be carried out to ensure compliance with veterinary norms and rules, and epidemiological data will be collected and analyzed.
Information about the areas observed within the framework of monitoring will be included in the international system.
Samples taken during the event will be examined at the Central Veterinary Laboratory of the Food Safety Institute.
