Azerbaijan to Supply Natural Gas to Turkey
Jerusalem, 4 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Ankara (AZERTAC) – Turkey and Azerbaijan have signed an agreement on the supply of 33 billion cubic meters of gas, AZERTAC reports, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said on Kanal7.
According to him, the volume of gas production at the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea will double by 2026, which will allow to supply 8 million customers in Turkey with local gas. In addition, a new gas agreement has been reached with Azerbaijan.
The Turkish Energy Minister explained that an agreement was reached between Ankara and Baku a few days ago, and according to the agreement, natural gas supplies will begin in 2029.
“2.25 billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied annually from the Absheron field in the Caspian Sea. The supply will be carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline,” the minister explained.
