Azerbaijan Tourism Sees Minor Decline in 2025 After 2024 Peak
Jerusalem, 8 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – According to the analysis conducted by the Media Analysis Center (MTM) based on official data released by the State Statistical Committee, a total of 2,570,212 people visited Azerbaijan in 2025. 70.2 percent of those arriving, or 1,804,754 people, entered the country for tourism purposes. Compared to 2024, the number of tourist visits decreased by 2.7 percent or 50,359 people. Thus, the number of people arriving in the country for tourism purposes in 2024 was 1,855,113 people. It should be noted that the highest indicator of the last four years also coincides with 2024.
AZERTAC reports, citing information released by the Ministry of Tourism, that according to statistics from previous years, in 2022, 1,058,068 people entered the country for tourism purposes, and in 2023, 1,402,600 people entered the country, an increase of 32.6 percent or 344,532 people.
In total, 6,120,535 trips for tourism purposes have been recorded to Azerbaijan over the past four years.
Of the last year’s 1,804,754 tourists, 61.6 percent and 38.4 percent were women.
Compared to 2024, the number of male tourists visiting the country in 2025 increased by 0.3 percent or 3,508 people. The number of female tourists, on the other hand, decreased by 7.2 percent or 53,867 people.
In 2024, 59.7 percent or 1,107,609 tourists visiting the country were male, and 40.3 percent or 747,504 were female.
In 2023, 890,934 male and 511,666 female tourists visited Azerbaijan. These figures showed an increase of 16.3 percent and 75.2 percent, respectively, compared to 2022.
According to official statistics, in 2025, the spending of people visiting the country for tourism purposes amounted to 3.26 billion manat ($1.9 billion). This figure marked a decreased of 4.3 percent compared to 2024.
In total, the amount of spending by tourists visiting Azerbaijan over the past four years was 10.44 billion manat ($6.14 billion).
According to the data, of the 3.26 billion manat ($1.9 billion) spent Azerbaijan’s 2025 tourists spent, 45.9 percent was spent on transportation. 19.9 percent on accomodations, 18.8 percent on food and 10.3 percent on goods and gifts. The remaining 5.1 percent fell to other expenses.
Russia accounted for 27.1 percent of the total tourist flow, while Turkey came in second with 12 percent and India with 8.7 percent. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia (5.7 percent), Kazakhstan (4.7 percent) and Pakistan (3.9 percent) were also among the countries sending the most tourists to the country. The remaining 37.9 percent came from various other countries.
