Azerbaijani Army Marks May 28 Independence Day with Nationwide Events
Jerusalem, 28 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (Azertac) – On the instructions of the Minister of Defense, Col.-Gen. Zakir Hasanov, a series of events were held in the Azerbaijani Army on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day.
According to the information provided to AZERTAC by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defense, the events, which were attended by personnel, the public, and representatives of the military attaché offices of the Republic of Azerbaijan accredited in foreign countries, first commemorated the memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the martyrs who gave their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was played accompanied by military orchestras.
On the occasion of Independence Day, socio-political training classes, round tables, conferences, as well as various cultural and mass patriotic events were organized for military personnel.
After the Minister of Defense’s congratulations on May 28 – Independence Day were delivered to the personnel, those speaking at the events spoke about the adoption of the Declaration of Independence declaring the independence of Azerbaijan on May 28, 1918, and the establishment of the first parliamentary republic in the Muslim East – the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
It was noted that as a result of the successful domestic and foreign policy implemented by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the state independence of modern Azerbaijan has been strengthened, and Azerbaijan international position has been strengthened. It was specially emphasized that today, thanks to the determination of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has been restored and it has developed in all areas.
On the occasion of Independence Day, excursions, book, photo and art exhibitions were also organized for the personnel, documentary and feature films were shown, as well as visits to museums and other historical sites, as well as the graves of our martyrs.
