Azerbaijani Judo Team Takes First Place at European Championship
Jerusalem, 7 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Bratislava (AZERTAC) – The individual competitions at the European Youth Judo Championships held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, have concluded.
AZERTAC reports that the Azerbaijani national team completed the continental championship with 3 medals.
On the first day of competition, Nihad Mamishov (60 kilograms) and Mahammad Musayev (66 kilograms) defeated all their opponents and won gold medals. Nizami Imranov (66 kilograms) completed the tournament with a bronze medal.
Nihad Mamishov, previously a two-time world champion among juniors, won the European Championship gold medal for the first time in his career. Mahammad Musayev made history as the first European champion of Azerbaijan in the junior 66 kg weight category. Another notable achievement was Nizami Imranov winning a medal at the continental tournament for the third year in a row.
It should be noted that Farid Garayev (60 kilograms) finished the competition in 5th place, and Abil Yusubov in 7th place. The Azerbaijani team, which has 2 gold and 1 bronze medals, took first place among the boys in the competition of 43 countries.
