Azerbaijani Judokas Win Three Golds at European Youth Championships
Jerusalem, 7 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The Azerbaijani national team, which won five medals at the European Youth Judo Championship held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, has returned home.
AZERTAC reports that the judokas were welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by representatives of the sports community, federation officials, media representatives, and relatives of the athletes.
Aykhan Mirzazade (60 kilograms), Mahammad Musayev (66 kilograms) and Suleyman Shukurov (90 kilograms) defeated all their rivals and became European champions among youth. Davud Namazli (100 kilograms) and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kilograms) won bronze medals.
The Azerbaijani national team finished the competition with three gold and two silver medals, taking second place overall among 44 countries and first place in the boys’ competition.
