Azerbaijani Junior Chess Players to Participate in World Championship

Jerusalem, 18 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The opening ceremony of the World Junior Chess Championship will be held today in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan will be represented at the world championship by Fatima Mirzaliyeva, Nurlan Azizli, Mehriban Ahmadli, Melek Asadli, Atilla Orman, Kenan Babasoy and Asnad Bakhshizade.

According to the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, 785 chess players from 83 countries will compete in the prestigious competition. The championship will be organized among boys and girls in the 8, 10 and 12 age categories.

The 11-round World Championship will conclude on September 30.
