Azerbaijani Team Tops Kutaisi Swimming Cup with 47 Medals

Jerusalem, 25 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (Azertac) – Azerbaijani athletes won 47 medals at the Kutaisi Open Summer Swimming Cup held in Georgia.

The Swimming Federation told AZERTAC that 18 of these are gold, 19 are silver, and 10 are bronze awards.

Eight swimmers represented Azerbaijan in the competition.

Farhad Shirmammadli, Mehri Abdurahmanli and Suleyman Ismailzadeh, as well as Anastasia Gnusina, Arif Tapdigov, Mehdi Mukhtarli, Safiya Samadova and Yusif Sofiyev, tested their strength in the national team.

Suleyman Ismayilzadeh was awarded the trophy for showing the best result in the general category, and Farhad Shirmammadli was awarded the trophy for showing the best result in the category born in 2010 and younger.

The competition was also notable for record results for Azerbaijani swimmers. Mehri Abdurahmanli broke the Azerbaijani record in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 31.47 seconds, while Suleyman Ismayilzadeh set a new national record in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 3:54.70.
