Azerbaijani Women’s Chess Players Gear Up for Batumi European Championship

Jerusalem, 25 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The Azerbaijani women’s national chess team has begun its next training camp in the city of Naftalan.

AZERTAC reports that the main goal is preparation for the European Championship among teams.

For a week, the Azerbaijani team will participate in training under the leadership of World Cup semi-finalist Nijat Abasov and three-time European champion Gadir Huseynov.

Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Govhar Beydullayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, Khanim Balajayeva and Ayan Allahverdiyeva have been invited to the Azerbaijani women’s chess team. Ilaha Gadimova has been confirmed as the captain.

The European Team Championship will be held in Batumi, Georgia, from October 4-15.
