Azerbaijani Wrestlers Win Gold at European Championships

Jerusalem, 14 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – Two Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers won gold medals at the European Championships held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

AZERTAC reports that Nihat Mammadli (60 kilograms) defeated Serbian Georgi Tibilov in the final, while Hasrat Jafarov (67 kilograms) defeated Bulgarian Abu Muslim Amayev.

Thus, N. Mammadli became the second and H. Jafarov the third European champion.

Ulvi Ganizade (72 kilograms) defeated Alexander Liavonchik and settled for the bronze medal.

It should be noted that previously, freestyle wrestlers won one gold, one silver and four bronze medals, while Greco-Roman wrestlers won one silver and one bronze medal. In the women’s competition, Jala Aliyeva (57 kilograms) won the bronze medal.
