Azerbaijan’s Khagan Ahmed Wins Sheki Open Chess Festival
Jerusalem, 26 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) The Sheki Open International Chess Festival has come to an end in Sheki.
AZERTAC reports that Azerbaijani chess player Khagan Ahmed, who scored the most points in Group A — eight points in nine rounds — won the competition.
Ukrainian chess player Vasily Bernardsky, who scored seven points during the competition, finished the tournament in second place.
Azerbaijani chess player Vugar Manafov came in third place with 6.5 points.
In Group B, Azerbaijan’s Teymur Soltanov won the tournament with eight points. Yusif Karimli and Huseyn Gurbanov took second and third places, respectively.
The “Sheki Open” is a stage of the “Chess Tour Azerbaijan”, which is held at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The next competition of the project, the “Shamaxhi Open” tournament, will start on June 27.
