Azerbaijan’s Paralympians Excel on Global Stage

Jerusalem, 3 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The Paralympic movement in Azerbaijan has undergone rapid development and today shows successful results in the international arena. Azerbaijani Paralympians demonstrated good results in international competitions in 2025. Azerbaijani paralympians won a total of 61 medals, including 22 gold, 18 silver and 21 bronze. This year, there is one world and two European champions among the athletes.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated worldwide on December 3. The aim is to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in all areas of public life, as well as to draw the attention of the general public to their problems. The Paralympic movement and Paralympians play a major role in advancing the goals of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Paralympians demonstrate incredible courage and resilience, challenging stereotypes about people with disabilities.

The year 2025 was a significant one for Azerbaijan’s young Paralympians. The Azerbaijani National Paralympic team, which made its debut at the seventh European Youth Paralympic Games, was represented by 17 athletes in seven sports and finished the competition with four gold, two silver, and seven bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s junior Paralympians won a total of nine medals, including three gold, two silver, and four bronze, at the ISF U-15 Gymnasium Sports Games held in Serbia this year.

It was noted that currently, about 100 Paralympians continue their training in nine summer sports and one winter sport, according to the athlete registry.
