Jerusalem, 18 October, 2015 (TPS) --

Be’er Sheva (TPS) – Israeli police say that the terrorist who carried out the deadly attack at the Be’er Sheva central bus station was Israeli Bedouin, Muhanad Alukabi, 21, from Hura, a Bedouin town located east of the city.

Eleven Israelis were injured and one IDF soldier killed during the terror attack that took place at the Be’er Sheva central bus station on Sunday night, October 18. Six still remain hospitalized as of Monday, October 19.

The IDF soldier has been identified as Omri Levi, 19, of Sde Hemed, a moshav in central Israel.

According to Israeli police spokesperson, the attack took place around 7:30 PM, when the terrorist entered the central bus station in the southern city and began shooting and stabbing bystanders. The attacker was armed with both a pistol and a knife and a rifle he snatched from his first victim, the IDF soldier, according to initial reports.

According to reports, security forces shot and killed the terrorist after holing up in the bathroom.

Policemen at the scene reported that they managed to neutralize what they mistook to be another assailant, but was actually an Eritrean asylum worker and was mistakenly killed in the shootout.

A Magen David Adom (MDA) spokesperson confirmed last night that paramedics treated six injured individuals on the scene.

The attack survivors were evacuated to the Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva. According to a Soroka hospital spokesperson, an IDF soldier and the attacker’s first victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two other victims have sustained critical injuries and underwent life-saving surgery while additional two severely injured victims are hospitalized in intensive care. The rest of the twelve victims have sustained varying degrees of moderate to light injuries. One of the victims was a foreign citizen who sustained severe injury after being caught in the crossfire.

Police forces are scouring the area for potential additional attackers.

Be’er Sheva native, Eli Ben-Dahan, who is Israel’s Deputy Defense Minister has stated to the press that “the international community has a duty to fight against and stop the phenomenon of sedition and encouragement of terrorism by the heads of the Palestinian Authority.”

“Unfortunatly, the terrorists aren’t stopping and we are only witnessing an escalation from knifing to mass shootings,” said Ben-Dahan.
