Biden Sends Congress $14 Billion Israel Military Aid Package

Jerusalem, 20 October, 2023 (TPS) -- U.S. President Joe Biden has proposed sending Israel a $14 billion aid package to assist in its war against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

In an Oval Office speech to the US public, Biden said the aid package is an “unprecedented commitment” to Israel’s security, comparing Israel’s war with Hamas to Ukraine’s ongoing war against Russian invaders.

“Hamas and Putin represent different threats. But they have this in common – they both want to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy,” Biden said.

The proposed Israeli aid will be sent for Congressional approval as part of a larger military assistance package for Ukraine, White House officials said.

Further, noted officials, the aid will include the delivery of precision-guided munitions, Iron Dome missiles, 155-millimeter mortar shells, small-diameter bombs and JDAM kits that convert unguided bombs into precision munitions.
