IDF Strikes in Gaza after Mortar Fire On Military Post

Jerusalem, 30 November, 2017 (TPS) -- 17:16 An IDF spokesman said fighter jets “struck two terrorist positions in the central Gaza Strip. The strikes were carried out in response to mortar fire earlier in the day against a military position on the border with the northern Gaza Strip.

17:00 Palestinian sources reported that Israeli jets had struck targets in Gaza

16:30 – IDF Spokesperson has confirmed that the Islamic Jihad is behind the attack.

15:00 – An IDF spokesman confirmed that Israeli forces had attacked positions in Gaza.
“A short while ago our forces attacked four terrorist positions in Gaza. The strikes were carried out in response to mortar fire against a military position along the border with the northern Gaza Strip. We see the terrorist organization Hamas as responsible for everything that occurs within the Gaza Strip,” the spokesman said.

14:45 – Palestinian sources reported that the IDF had attacked two Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip.

Developing story: An IDF position came under mortar fire at around 2:30 pm on Thursday afternoon, the IDF said.
Unconfirmed reports said mortars had fallen in the Erez Crossing area.
The report came a few minutes after a false alarm in the Western Negev region. Community security officers in the region warned civilians to stay in the vicinity of shelter. No injuries have been reported. Shortly after the incident, train services between Ashkelon and Sderot were halted and farmers working along the border area were instructed to leave.
