Breaking News: IAF Jets Strike Targets in Gaza Strip

By TPS • 29 May, 2018

Jerusalem, 29 May, 2018 (TPS) -- BREAKING NEWS:  Israel Air Force jets bombed a collection of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip Tuesday, several hours after terror elements in the Strip fired dozens of mortars at Israeli territory earlier in the day.

Ahead of the strike, officials in the Sadot Negev Regional Council alerted residents that they would hear a series of loud explosions “as a result of IDF activity in the Strip,” and added that the IDF Home Front Command would issue special instructions should the need arise.

The move followed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise following the barrage to respond “forcefully.” During a visit to the Galilee Netanyahu said Israel holds Hamas responsible for activities inside and emanating from Gaza, and warned that “Israel views these attacks… by Hamas and Islamic Jihad from the Gaza Strip with great severity.”

The premier added that he would convene security officials for emergency consultations later today.

Update

Commander of the IDF Northern Command Gen. Tamir Yada’i said “I don’t think we’re on the way to war. At the same time I say that we have been  in a complicated, touchy situation over the past few months.

“The challenge the Israeli home front will face in the next round of fighting will be significant.”
