Bulgaria Battles 143 Fires in One Day
Jerusalem, 20 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – In the last 24 hours, 143 fires have been extinguished in Bulgaria, the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection announced on its website. Fire brigade teams responded to 195 reports of accidents.
Four people have been injured in the fires over the past 24 hours.
Three people were injured after a gas cylinder exploded at a gas station in Burgas. The incident was reported on July 19 at 7:48 p.m. The injured are a 59-year-old man working at the gas station who has abrasions on his feet, another 26-year-old worker with a foot injury, and a 13-year-old girl with a ruptured eardrum. All the injured have been released for home treatment.
On July 19 at 5:01 p.m., a report was received of a gas cylinder explosion in a house in Teteven. A 76-year-old woman was injured and suffered second-degree burns to her hands.
Of the fires that occurred during the day, 35 caused material damage, 15 of which were in residential buildings. 108 fires occurred without causing material damage.
Forty-five rescue activities and assistance operations were carried out, ten of which were in disasters.
