Bulgaria Reports 164 Fires in 24 Hours, One Dead, Two Injured
Jerusalem, 28 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Bulgaria’s General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDPBZN) reported on Sunday that 164 fires have been extinguished in the country over the past 24 hours, one person died and two people were injured, while 199 reports of accidents were registered.
On September 27 at 8:41 p.m., the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection – Lovech received a report of a fire in a house in Ugarchin. The fire was extinguished by fire safety officers, but a 74-year-old man died.
On September 27 at 00:54 a.m., a report of a fire in a garage was received in Pazardzhik. The fire was extinguished, but a 59-year-old man was injured in the fire, suffering second-degree burns, about 30% on his face and hands. He was transported to Pazardzhik Hospital by a team from the Pazardzhik Central Emergency Medical Service. He was later taken to the burn clinic in Plovdiv.
At 19:38 on September 27, a report of a fire in a house in the village of Kopilovtsi was received in Kyustendil. The fire was extinguished, but a 49-year-old man was injured from gas inhalation, smoke and minor burns to the palms of both hands and face. The injured person was transported to the Kyustendil Emergency Medical Center.
There have been six false calls in the past 24 hours.
Twenty-nine fires occurred with direct material damage, of which 13 were in residential buildings.
Another 135 fires occurred without causing material damage.
