Bulgaria Says Aviation Fuel Supplies Secure for Summer Tourist Flights
Jerusalem, 11 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Bulgaria has enough aviation fuel to ensure tourist flights, said Denitsa Milosavljevic, Director of Aviation Business Development at the company operating the sea airports – Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, during the ninth edition of the “BG TOURISM – SUMMER 2026” forum, organized by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
“We have the assurance of our main supplier that we will have enough fuel to ensure all flights during the summer season,” Milosavljevic added.
According to her, not many airports in Europe can boast of having a refinery only ten kilometers away, as is the case with the airport in Burgas. Milosavljevic explained that the operator is not so dependent on fuel imports through the Strait of Hormuz. “Our supplier imports fuel from other markets, so Bulgaria has enough aviation fuel,” she said.
Milosavljevic added that the company is in constant contact with airlines and the main carriers assure them that they do not expect any flight cancellations this summer due to the circumstances related to fuel and a possible increase in prices. According to her, “We must somehow distance ourselves from the negative rhetoric regarding the topic that there is a possibility that, if there is no fuel, plane tickets will become very expensive,” she said .”Regarding prices, as mentioned earlier – yes, it is possible that they will increase in Bulgaria, but they will also increase in other places.”
She said that tourists know Bulgaria as a safe destination and gave the Israeli market as an example. Tourist flights from Israel were restored to Varna Airport at the beginning of May, and Milosavljevic stressed that there is great interest. She pointed out that a lot depends on the geopolitical situation, but the operator of the airports in Varna and Burgas is ready to welcome additional flights to those that are currently available.
