Bulgarian Interior Minister Links Nationwide School Bomb Threats to Italian-Based Website

Jerusalem, 2 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Kardzhali (BTA) – Tuesday’s reports of bomb threats sent to schools and kindergartens in cities across Bulgaria, including Kardzhali, were sent from a website in Italy, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said. According to him, there are a suspiciously large number of them, that were likely coordinated.

“Now we will look for those who are behind their sending,” said Demerdzhiev, who added that even in the previous term, when he worked in the Ministry of Interior system, a protocol for action was drawn up, which is why the Ministry of Interior does not expect chaos or panic regarding the bomb threats in educational institutions.

Minister Demerdzhiev was in Kardzhali on the occasion of the opening of the energy-renovated buildings of the fire department in the regional town.
