Bulgarian Karateka Wins Gold at Varna World Cup

Jerusalem, 8 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Varna on the Black Sea (BTA) – Bulgarian karateka Christian Gospodinov won the title at the Varna World Cup in kyokushin karate on July 7.

Gospodinov claimed gold in the 75 kg weight category in the junior 16-17 age group. The final was an all-Bulgarian match in which he defeated Denis Iliev.

Bulgaria finished the tournament with 13 medals, including one gold, three silver, and nine bronze medals, securing third place in the team standings. Kazakhstan topped the rankings with 27 medals, followed by Poland with nine.

Over 430 competitors from 25 countries took part in the tournament, which was held as part of the 20th International Martial Arts Camp.
