Jerusalem, 5 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Varna (BTA) – Technological sovereignty should be a priority for Bulgaria as a country part of the European Union, said President Iliana Yotova, who officially opened the international Black Sea Technology Forum in Varna.

According to her, technological sovereignty does not mean that Europe isolates itself from the world, but that it itself creates and protects critical technologies on which its economy and security depend, has its own knowledge and the ability to choose its partnerships. And Bulgaria must be a very active part in this process, the president emphasized.

She also emphasized the impact of technological progress on human life and health, especially in the field of medicine. We must be very responsible in this regard, and technology should be a tool, not a substitute for medicine, said Yotova.
