A delegation of Bulgaria’s Prosecution Office, led by Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, is paying a working visit to Israel on Monday, the Prosecution Office said.

The delegation includes Tsvetomir Yosifov, head of the international department with the Supreme Cassation Prosecution Office, and National Investigation Service (NIS) Deputy Director Yasen Todorov. The visit is at the invitation of the Federation of Zionists in Bulgaria, which is a member of the World Zionist Federation.

The proactive role of the prosecution in countering terrorism and manifestations of anti-Semitism are among the highlights of the working meetings that the Bulgarian delegation will have in Israel.

The program of the visit includes a meeting with representatives of the Israeli Magistracy and security forces. Geshev will hold talks with Robert Singer, Chairman of the Center for Jewish Impact, member of the Board of the Anti-Semitism Movement and former Executive-Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, in connection with the prosecution’s contribution to preventing the so-called “Lukov March” from taking place in the Bulgarian capital.

In the context of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews, Geshev will also meet with representatives of the Bulgarian community in Israel.

The series of meetings of the Bulgarian delegation includes a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israel’s Knesset.

On March 10, Geshev had a working meeting with Singer in Sofia in the context of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews. Geshev emphasized the contribution of Bulgarian jurists to this act.
