Bulgaria’s Electricity Production Up 11.5% in January-October, Y/Y

Electricity production in Bulgaria increased by 11.50% in the period from January 1 to October 9 compared to the like months of 2021, show Electricity System Operator data published on Tuesday. A total of 39,508,275 MWh were produced and 29,224,913 MWh were used in the country, down by 0.62% from January 1-October 9, 2021.

The trade balance (export-import) went up by 70.63%; however, this indicator drops regularly and in the first half of 2022 it regularly exceeded 100%, the data show.

Base plants produced 33,278,117 MWh of electricity during the period under review, their participation in Bulgaria’s electricity production growing by 16.13% year-on-year.

Renewable energy sources’ participation in the transmission network increased by 26.1% and in the distribution system, by 15.01%.

Electricity produced by hydroelectric plants registered a drop by 27.46% compared to January 1-October 1, 2021.
