Car-Ramming Attack on Road 443 Near Modi'in; No Injuries Reported
Jerusalem, 31 January, 2016 (TPS) -- A terrorist attempted a car-ramming attack on Sunday, January 31 at the Beit Ur a-Tahta checkpoint on Route 443 between Jerusalem and the city of Modi’in.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that a man in a Palestinian car attempted to run over a group of soldiers but failed to inflict any injuries. He was shot by IDF forces and then taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem after Israeli paramedics provided lifesaving treatment. He is conscious, but remains in serious condition.
The car-ramming attack was the second terrorist attack of the day. Three young Israelis were wounded earlier in a shooting attack near the Jewish community of Beit El, north of Jerusalem. The victims were treated at the scene by Magen David Adom (MDA) and IDF paramedics.
Route 443 has been a flashpoint for terrorist attacks in the recent wave of terror. A bus traveling on the highway was incinerated by a Molotov cocktail thrown by terrorists on January 6.
Vehicles traveling on the route have become increasingly cautious as rock throwing has become an almost daily occurrence as well as the aiming of lasers at drivers with the intention of blinding them and causing crashes.
