Child and Mother Electrocuted By Motorized Wheelchair Ramp
Jerusalem, 30 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Pleven (BTA) – A nine-year-old girl who was electrocuted by an electric wheelchair ramp was rescued in Pleven, Mariana Tsvetkova, the regional spokesperson for the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Pleven, told BTA.
The incident occurred last night, when at 7:50 p.m. the child was walking down the stairs of a shopping center and grabbed the electric ramp when he was electrocuted. The strong electric shock knocked the child to the ground and left him in a situation where his tongue blocked his airway. His mother came to his aid, but she was also electrocuted, Tsvetkova added.
The two patrolling police officers from the First District Department in Pleven started a rescue operation, in which a passing citizen also joined in. The timely first aid provided saved the child’s life and he started breathing again. He was taken by a team from the Emergency Medical Care Center in Pleven, examined and released without complications.
An investigating police officer inspected the scene. The district prosecutor on duty was notified of the case. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
