Construction of Electric Car Factory in Northern Bulgarian town of Lovech Has Almost Started

The construction of a factory for electric cars in Lovech Bulgaria has practically started, BTA learned Wednesday from Lyubomir Stanislavov, CEO of Next.e.Go Bulgaria and head of Automotive Cluster Bulgaria. The factory will be located on the ground next to the former Balkan factory in Lovech, where some of Bulgaria’s first cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and airplanes in Bulgaria were produced in the past.

The investment was agreed upon a year ago by then-Economy Minister Kiril Petkov.

Stanislavov believes that the first electric cars will start rolling off the production lines before the end of next year.

“We can practically say that the construction has started. The main contractor has been picked and is preparing the factory campus,” said Stanislavov.

A project supervisor has also been selected.

The largest construction and construction supervision companies in Bulgaria will be involved in this project, he said.

Large-scale production is planned to start in 2024.
