Cybercrimes Targeting Bulgaria Increasing
Jerusalem, 1 August, 2023 (TPS) -- SOFIA, 01.08.2023 (BTA)
Cybercrime has been on the rise in recent years, General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (DGCOC)’s Cybercrime Department Head Vladimir Dimitrov told BTA on Tuesday.
There has been a steady increase in all kinds of cybercrimes, Dimitrov added. “They are not one type, we are investigating over 14-15 different types of cybercrimes. Both state resources and private companies are targeted by hackers, whether for financial incentive or for inflicting moral damage on government organizations,” he explained.
“Hacker attacks are on the rise as economically all life, especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, has moved to the internet,” former DGCOC Cybercrime Department Head Yavor Kolev pointed out. “It is also normal that the interest of criminals is directed to the Internet space, where they acquire undue financial benefits,” he noted.
