Danube River Levels Rise Slightly, Navigation Restrictions Remain

Jerusalem, 23 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – A minimal increase in the level of the Danube River has been reported, and there are no stranded vessels in the Bulgarian section. This was announced by the Executive Agency “Research and Maintenance of the Danube River”.

At the Ruse water gauging station, a 2 cm increase in the river level was recorded, at Nikopol the increase was 1 cm, and at Svishtov – 4 cm, the data show. At Lom, a 4 cm decrease was recorded. Stagnation was recorded at the water gauging stations in Novo Selo and Silistra.

All restrictions on vessel navigation are in effect for the entire stretch of the river. The hydrological situation remains complicated.
