Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will discuss all issues of mutual interest, a Commission spokesperson told BTA, answering a question whether they will discuss the choice of Bulgaria’s next European Commissioner.

This is Gabriel’s first visit to Brussels as Deputy PM, Von der Leyen will meet her on Monday afternoon, the spokesperson said.

On Friday, Von Der Leyen sent a letter to the Bulgarian authorities, in which she asked them to propose European Commissioner candidates. “We await the proposals of the Bulgarian authorities. I will not discuss the exact content of the letter”, the spokesman also said.

In a tweet, Gabriel said that on Tuesday she will meet High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and EC Vice-President Josep Borrell, EC Vice-Presidents Vera Jourova, Margaritis Schinas and Dubravka Suica, European Commissioner for transport Adina Valean, European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton and European Commissioner for Financial Services Mairead McGuinness.
