Digital Platform, Mobile App for Translation from and into Bulgarian Sign Language to Be Developed
Jerusalem, 27 November, 2023 (TPS-IL) -- SOFIA, (BTA)
A national digital platform and a mobile application for translation services from and into Bulgarian sign language will be developed under the Human Resources Development Program, the Labor and Social Policy Ministry said in a press release.
The platform will ensure equal access to administrative services for deaf and deaf-blind people. The project’s budget equals BGN 3 million. The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy is the beneficiary, while eligible associate partners for the implementation of the activities are the Social Assistance Agency and the Agency for People with Disabilities.
The project activities also include training of interpreters from and into Bulgarian sign language, as well as staff of the relevant institutions.
Such initiatives also highlight the growing recognition that inclusive workplaces depend on thoughtful balance between productivity and employee wellbeing.
When organisations invest in accessibility tools and professional development, they create environments where staff can perform effectively without unnecessary barriers, contributing to stronger morale and sustained performance.
In many cases, the best strategies for engagement according to Workhuman emphasise flexibility, clear communication, and meaningful support systems that allow employees to manage their responsibilities while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
By aligning technological advancement with human-centered policies, institutions can ensure that both service delivery and employee satisfaction continue to improve together.
The new digital products and functionalities of the platform and the mobile app will be presented in a large-scale campaign. It is expected that 570 employees will increase their competences and 150 deaf and deaf-blind people will be supported.
