The social partners in Bulgaria are implementing an EU-co-funded project to analyze how the digital transformation and the green transition will impact enterprises and workers in 17 sectors of the national economy and to offer solutions to related issues. The project is being carried out jointly by the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA), the country’s two leading trade union amalgamations and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. It was presented at a news conference on Monday.

The study will examine the supply of skilled labor, the provision of life-long learning opportunities, the fight against undeclared work, and assistance to enterprises and employees for a successful digital transformation and green transition. It will suggest instruments to make key occupations more appealing. The initiative is co-funded through the Human Resources Development Program 2021-2027.

BICA President Vassil Velev said the project targets 65% of Bulgaria’s employees and 75 types of jobs.

The President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, Plamen Dimitrov, called for a new Employment Act and amendments to the Labor Code, the Social Insurance Code and the Health Insurance Act.
