European Championship: Azerbaijani Judokas to Face Each Other in Consolation Match

Jerusalem, 23 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – The European Judo Championships have started in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

AZERTAC reports that on the first day of the competition, five members of the Azerbaijani national team took to the tatami.

Of them, only Ahmad Yusifov and Turan Bayramov (both 60 kilograms) advanced to the quarterfinals. The Azerbaijani athletes, who lost to their opponents at this stage, will face each other in a consolation match for the bronze medal.

Konul Aliyeva (48 kilograms), who joined the competition on Wednesday, lost in the 1/8 finals, while Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kilograms) and Ruslan Pashayev (66 kilograms) lost in their first matches and said goodbye to the tournament.

The European Championship concludes on April 26.
