Five Nations to Join Annual Spartan Air Exercise in Bulgaria

Jerusalem, 18 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Bezmer Air Base (BTA) The European Spartan Exercise 2025 (ESE 25) will begin at Bezmer Airport near Yambol on September 23, the Bulgarian air base announced. Tactical flights and other tasks will be performed in the areas of Bezmer and Cheshnegirovo airports until October 3. Representatives of the air forces of Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Greece and Lithuania will participate.

The ESE 25 flight exercise is conducted annually as part of a program agreement between C-27J aircraft operators from European Union member states.

By decisions of the C-27J Program Management Committee, countries operating Casa C-295 aircraft have been invited to participate for the first time this year. The aim is to increase interoperability and optimize resources.

The training will include tactical landing approaches, low-altitude flights, tactical flights, troop and cargo landings, as well as aeromedical evacuation, the press center of the Bezmer airbase added.
