Former Israeli Lawmaker's Son Stabbed in Hebron
Jerusalem, 9 December, 2015 (TPS) -- Hebron (TPS) – A stabbing attack occurred at the entrance to Beit Hadassah, a Jewish complex in the city of Hebron, around 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 9.
Two Israeli men were injured in the attack; an IDF soldier was moderately wounded in his head, and a civilian suffered light wounds in his leg.
Both men, aged around 20, were evacuated by Magen David Adom (MDA) to Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem. The terrorist was shot and killed.
The wounded civilian is Isaac Strook, son of former lawmaker in the Israeli parliament, Orit Strook. She represented the Jewish Home party (Habayit Hayehudi) in the Knesset from 2013 until March of 2015.
Lying in the hospital bed, Isaac Strook told his family members that he was next to the soldier who was stabbed by the terrorist. His family members told Tazpit Press Service (TPS) that he charged at the stabber and battled with him bare-handed, until the arrival of the Hebron security coordinator. When Strook heard the security coordinator loading his weapon, he disengaged to enable a clear shot at the terrorist.
The Strook family also told TPS that this is the third member of their family to be hurt in a terror attack.
The terrorist, identified as Abdulrahman Maswada, was shot and killed by the city’s military security coordinator. Maswada is the cousin of another terrorist who carried a stabbing in Hebron two days earlier.
On Monday, December 7, Ehab Maswada stabbed and critically wounded Genadi Kaufman, 40, a well-known Jewish resident of the city who worked as a gardener at the Tomb of Patriarchs.
The city of Hebron in Judea has been a flash-point in the recent wave of Palestinian terror, with many stabbing attacks carried out in the city.
