Four of Five Firefronts Bulgarian Area of Voden Contained
Jerusalem, 22 July, 2024 (TPS) -- SOFIA (BTA) The effort to extinguish a wildfire in the vicinity of Voden, in the southeastern Yambol Region, continued through the night of Sunday to Monday. Four out of five firefronts have been contained.
All available forces and means are employed to contain the last remaining front, which has developed in lower-lying land and has affected a stand of deciduous trees between the villages of Krainovo and Golyam Dervent. The news was reported by Senior Commissioner Lyubomir Barov, Deputy Head of the Directorate General for Fire Safety and Civil Protection, as quoted by the Interior Ministry press office on Monday.
No people and settlements in the area are in danger. “We will work as hard as we can throughout the day to contain the last firefront. We will be assisted by helicopters and airplanes,” Barov pledged.
