From Silence to Song: Azerbaijani Army Marks World Azerbaijanis’ Solidarity Day
Jerusalem, 31 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – According to the plan of events approved by the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, a series of events were organized in all branches of the Azerbaijani Army, as well as in special educational institutions, in connection with December 31 – World Azerbaijanis’ Solidarity Day and the New Year holiday.
The Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC that the events began with a minute of silence in memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. This was followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan accompanied by military orchestras.
The speeches provided detailed information about the history of the establishment and socio-political significance of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, emphasizing that this significant day embodies feelings of national unity, love for Azerbaijan, respect for our spiritual values, and devotion to the Motherland.
It was noted that on December 16, 1991, at a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by Heydar Aliyev, a decision was made to celebrate December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, and an appeal was made to the country’s parliament regarding this initiative. On December 25 of the same year, the National Council of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted a relevant law declaring December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
During the holiday events, special attention was paid to the invaluable services in the field of statehood and army building of the founder of the modern Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the President, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continued his political course.
As part of the events, documentaries were shown for military personnel, and round tables and quizzes were held to instill thoughts of loyalty to the Motherland and state, as well as national and spiritual values.
The concert programs presented by the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Center, the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, as well as the creative teams of the regional cultural departments were met with great interest by the event participants.
On the holiday, military personnel also visited the families of martyrs and presented them with holiday gifts.
