Fujairah Ruler Pardons 153 Prisoners Ahead of UAE’s 51st National Day

H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 153 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Fujairah, ahead of the UAE’s 51st National Day.

The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.

The gesture is part of Sheikh Hamad’s desire to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families.

Brigadier Mohammed bin Nayae Al Tunaiji, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, extended his thanks and appreciation to the Fujairah Ruler, expressing his hope that this gesture will give the pardoned prisoners a chance to get back to their families and reintegrate positively into society.

Also UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 1,530 prisoners, ahead of UAE’s 51st National Day.

The pardoned prisoners had been sentenced to jail terms for a variety of offenses.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed also pledged to settle the financial obligations of the released prisoners.

The President’s pardon gives the released prisoners an opportunity to rethink their future and positively contribute to the service of their families and communities in order to lead successful social and professional lives.
