Germany Was Main Exporter Country to Bulgaria in 2020 – Germany Trade & Invest Agency

In a publication titled “Bulgaria: economic data”, the Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) agency presents information about the state of Bulgaria’s economy, foreign trade, relations with the EU, as well as German-Bulgarian relations, the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce said in its Bulgarien Aktuell bulletin, received by BTA on Wednesday.

Following are the items with the largest share in total imports in 2020, by sector: chemical products – 14.8%, raw materials (excluding fuel) – 10.4%, machines – 8.5% and food – 8.5%. In the same year, Bulgaria exported most goods from the following sectors: food (11.7%), chemical products (11.6%), non-ferrous metals (10.7%) and electrical engineering (9.2%).

With a share of 12.1% of total imports, Germany was the main supplier for Bulgaria, followed by Romania (7.3%), Turkey (7.1%) and Italy (7.1%) in 2020.

The goods imported from Germany by sector with the largest share of total imports in 2021 are raw materials (excluding fuel) – 16.1%, electric machinery – 14.3%, motor vehicle parts – 9.7%, machines – 8.9%, non-ferrous metals – 7.5% and textiles/apparel – 7%.
