Global Media Congress Concludes, Stressing Collaboration and Tolerance
Jerusalem, 22 November, 2022 (TPS) -- The Global Media Congress in the United Arab Emirates concluded on Thursday with participants already looking forward to next year’s conference.
The conference — the first in what is hoped will be an annual event — is a forum for people in the media industry to network, exchange ideas and explore areas of cooperation. More than 1,200 journalists, media executives and publishers are in Abu Dhabi for the gathering.
Various speakers and events addressed issues such as trends impacting the media landscape, international collaboration, the growing use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality, diversity and tolerance, the industry’s future, and more.
Notable speakers included Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Her Excellency, Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State for Tolerance
The gathering also featured the Director-General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, who chaired the conference’s Higher Organizing Committee.
A charter of tolerance signed in advance by directors of news agencies from across the world was presented during the conference. The charter included a commitment to “exchange and publicize news stories related to tolerance.” Signatories included Amotz Eyal, CEO of the Tazpit Press Service. TPS is a non-profit international news agency based in Israel.
“It was an honor for TPS to participate at the first global media congress run by our partners, the Emirates news agency,” said Miri Maoz-Ovadia, TPS director of international relations.
“It was a really great opportunity to meet peers in the fields of media, discuss similar challenges and future collaborations and exchange of information between countries. These collaborations bring people closer and create further opportunities to strengthen ties in other areas such as business and tourism,” Maoz-Ovadia stressed.
“We were excited to be the Israelis representatives in the exhibition, the only ones actually, and create more opportunities to bring Israeli news to new destinations and populations. We thank WAM for an amazing event and hope to participate again in the future,” she added.
TPS works in collaboration with WAM as WAM’s Israel partner, sharing information and news stories with one another.
