The government adopted at its 4th session the plan for managing the natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid region (2020-2019) and an action plan for implementation of UNESCO recommendations.

The plan, the government said in a press release, lists illegal activities in protected areas and plans for future research crucial for the sustainable development of the area.

“These measures aim to strengthened institutional capacity for sustainable management of Ohrid’s natural and cultural heritage,” the press release read.

The government also adopted at the session changes to the Law on Minerals, which will allow a concession agreement to be terminated if there’s a violation of agreement provisions, and when extraction harms public interest, safety, and health of the local population.
