Jerusalem, 4 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Ruse (BTA) – The Executive Agency for the Study and Maintenance of the Danube River (IAPPD) is replacing the floating navigation signs in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the river. This was announced by the Executive Director of IAPPD in Ruse, Ivelin Zanev.

The activities began at the end of last week in the Svishtov region, where a new shipping lane has been designated, ensuring more convenient and safe passage for vessel captains.

The IAPPD recalls that at the end of last year, 150 new floating navigation signs equipped with AIS technology were received. The delivery is within the framework of the DISMAR project, funded under the cross-border cooperation program between Bulgaria and Romania.

Zanev explained that the new buoys meet modern requirements for ensuring better visibility for ship captains. They are equipped with solar panels and an automatic identification system (AIS), which allows their tracking in real time through the already established information system.
